This is the first drill to perform at the beginning of every season. Beginners to the event will use this drill for months on end, while more advanced hurdlers will still use it as part of the warm-up for a majority of the season.
The cycle drill will develop good habits including;
- maintaining good position (forward lean, tall hips)
- swinging the arms
- cycling the heels under the hips (dorsi-flexed)
- ingrain the sensation of consistency (rhythm)
This is the first drill I perform with my hurdlers, in their seasonal progression, and is the easiest route to ingraining good habits from day 1.
